Safeguarding Policy

The Tended Mind exists to help children grow emotionally and intellectually whole. That mission carries a responsibility: everything we create, and everyone we work with, must hold the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of children as non-negotiable. The Tended Mind does not provide childcare, counselling, therapy or crisis intervention services. Any concerns regarding a child's immediate safety should be referred to the appropriate emergency or child protection services.

Our Commitment

This policy sets out the principles we hold ourselves to, both in the curriculum we design and in how we conduct ourselves as an organisation. We maintain that the safety and dignity of children are fundamental to our mission, ensuring that every interaction and piece of content we produce reinforces a protective and nurturing space. Scope This policy applies to all educational materials, publications, workshops, presentations and interactions carried out by or on behalf of The Tended Mind. Schools and organisations using The Tended Mind's materials remain responsible for safeguarding children in accordance with their own safeguarding policies, procedures and legal obligations.

Our Principles

Dignity comes first. No child should ever be shamed, humiliated or made an example of. The Tended Mind rejects approaches that rely on fear, shame or unnecessary hierarchy. Our educational framework promotes dignity, respect and age-appropriate learning that supports healthy emotional development. The curriculum is carefully designed to match each stage of a child's development, from the Early Years through to Pre-University, ensuring that content remains appropriate, thoughtful and developmentally suitable.

Working with Institutions

When The Tended Mind works with schools or educational institutions, anyone representing The Tended Mind will be expected to comply with the safeguarding requirements of the institution, including supervision arrangements, background checks where required by the institution or local law, and the prompt reporting of welfare concerns to the institution's designated safeguarding lead. Representatives of The Tended Mind will not seek unsupervised one-to-one contact with children unless this forms part of the institution's approved safeguarding arrangements.

Raising a Concern

If you have a safeguarding concern regarding our materials or conduct, please contact us at enquiries@thetendedmind.org, marked 'Safeguarding.' We treat these as a priority. If a child is in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services first.

Review

This policy is reviewed periodically as our work with schools and institutions grows, and will be updated to reflect that growth to ensure we maintain the highest safety and care standards.
