The TENDED MIND
Twelve domains. One whole mind.
Together these twelve domains describe the whole landscape of human development. Each represents an essential aspect of becoming fully human. They are distinct, yet inseparable - developing together throughout childhood and adolescence.
Every domain below represents an area of a child's development that The Tended Mind's syllabus addresses directly, taught progressively across every stage of school, from Early Years through Pre-University, not as a single unit, but as a thread woven through the entire curriculum. Anbu anchors the fourth domain. Azhagu completes the twelfth. Arivu runs through the third, and through how thinking itself is taught across all the others.

① Self
Knowing Yourself
Before a child can understand others, they need a working understanding of themselves, their own patterns, tendencies, and inner life. This domain builds the foundation of self-awareness everything else in the framework depends on.

② Emotion
Feeling Well
Not the suppression of feeling, and not its unchecked expression, but the capacity to recognise, name, and work with emotion as it arises. This domain builds emotional granularity and regulation, skill by skill.

③ Thought
Thinking Well
Arivu runs through this domain most directly. Clear thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to question one's own assumptions, taught as deliberately as any other academic skill.

④ Compassion
Practising Kindness
The domain where Anbu is named directly. Noticing others, feeling with them, and translating that feeling into genuine, useful care, not performative kindness.

⑤ Relationships
Living Together
How a child forms, maintains, and navigates relationships, with peers, family, and the wider people in their life, built on the self-awareness and emotional skill established earlier.

⑥ Communication
Speaking and Listening
Expression and reception, in equal measure. Saying what's true clearly and kindly, and truly hearing what someone else is saying, including what's underneath their words.

⑦ Character
Becoming a Fair Human
Integrity, fairness, and how a child treats people when there's nothing to be gained from it. This domain is where compassion and wisdom are tested in practice, not just held as ideas.

⑧ Learning
Learning for Life
How to learn, not just what to learn. Curiosity, resilience in the face of difficulty, and a relationship with one's own growth that lasts well beyond school.

⑨ Citizenship
Living in Community
A child's responsibility to the wider community they belong to, local and global, and what it means to live well among people who are different from them.

⑩ Wellbeing
Caring for the Whole Person
The practical foundations of a sustainable, healthy inner life, rest, boundaries, and the ongoing work of caring for oneself well, not just surviving.

⑪ Purpose
Living Meaningfully
The gradual development of a young person's sense of direction and meaning, not handed to them as an answer, but built as a capacity to keep asking the question well.

⑫ Beauty
Azhagu, the culmination
Where Azhagu is named directly. Not decoration, but the flourishing that results when everything else in this framework has been genuinely tended, the visible outcome of a mind formed with both compassion and wisdom.
The twelve domains are distinct, yet inseparable. Together they form one whole mind.
The full syllabus, stage-by-stage topics, learning outcomes, and classroom material for each domain, is available to schools and institutions as part of our licensing partnership. What's shown here is the structure. The complete curriculum is built for the classroom.
